Washington, D.C. - The Armenian Assembly of America (Assembly) will transition its in-person 2021 summer internship programs in Washington D.C. and Yerevan, Armenia to a virtual format this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s ongoing social distancing restrictions and public health recommendations. The Assembly’s flagship Terjenian-Thomas Internship Program, which marks its 44th year, along with its sister Yerevan Internship Program, will host two distinct month-long sessions, in June and July respectively. In addition to internship opportunities with the Armenian Assembly, Armenian National Institute, and the Armenia Tree Project and beyond, the program is comprised of virtual meetings with elected officials, as well as with leaders and experts who work in government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the mass media. “Despite the shift in format, we will continue to maintain the educational core of our internship programs as well as networking opportunities for our participants,” said Executive Director Bryan Ardouny. “We look forward to a robust program.” Over the last four decades, the Assembly has welcomed over 1,200 students and secured placements for them in high-profile roles, including with congressional offices, government agencies, media outlets, think tanks, and nonprofit organizations in Washington D.C. and Yerevan.
